M.I.C.E. has started being mentioned in Turkey during 2000s. M.I.C.E. is not a brand, it’s a way the industry does it’s job. The biggest gap of the sector is prestige and we should get that prestige on our own. If we say that we’re good and we go from there, we can’t become better in this constantly changing world.” TÜRSAB’s General Secretary Çetin Gürcün said: “M.I.C.E. has gained a big growth during the past 10 years. As TÜRSAB we are interested in all of the problems of the sector. Sector should be disciplined and taken under control. All of the players in M.I.C.E. sector should do their job right. The sector needs serious arrangements and everyone should have a professional qualification certificate.”
MPI Turkey Club President Handan Boyce has mentioned that the sector has a prestige, people should come together and provide the synergy. She also underlined the fact that Ace of M.I.C.E. is a really important exhibition in this field. Boyce said: “There should be more corporations which supports the sector. Congress and meetings sector is not a tourism sector, it is a sector of it’s own. There are lots of arrengements that has to be done but the important thing is to come together. We should understand each other and give value to each other. I will be in if we can be under one roof for this sector’s unity.
M.I.C.E. Sector’s history in the world
MPI Turkey Club President Handan Boyce moderated the afternoon session, ICCA CEO’su Martin Sirk made a speech and said:”ICCA is a global union. We have lots of members in Turkey. Turkey has a very important place in the international association sector. This sector is growing rapidly. During the last 10 years, it increased more than the double of the market. There is different race which developed in the last 8-9 years. Now, idea funding came up. You need to be compatible with the association’s targets to be successful. About the membership, you need to support the ones who are inexperienced on the issue of problem solving. Datas and analyzing are also very important. These should be taken in consideration. I think Turkey has a big chance on this.
MCI Group, COO-IMEA (India, Middle East, Africa)Sumaira Kamran Isaacs mentioned that associations richens the life and said: “Associations richen life, it creates a gathering and volunteership. Associations also are affected from the trends. Especially the globalization trend. Because of these trends’ effects, associations must always renew themselves. No one know the comebacks of this industry but it has a very large effect. The biggest fear of the associations are not being able to find a sponsor, losing the members and lack of participants. After being publicized, meetings and events get recognized more. Cities also affect the number of meetings. In Turkey, especially in İstanbul, with the 3rd bridge, the 3rd airport, new subway projects, new congress buildings and with new hotels, the effect and the meeting sector power of it increases.
SITE Global President Paul Miller said: “You are going to organize events, meetings and congresses and gain prestige with it but there is also an encouragment part of this. To understand these encouragements, you need to understand the individual part of the situation, which is the people itself. You need to be positive. There are important trends coming up on encouragments lately and this interests the companies.
For example, the encouragement travel programs which are given to increase the individual performance has an effect of %22 percent.”
